SLIRM, Shop Like It Really Matters, is a crowdsourced shopping list creator that allows people to comparison shop at grocery stores in their community. After shopping with their SLIRM list they return to SLIRM and add the prices they paid for things where the prices were different than was on their shopping list. It helps them in the future and helps other shoppers in their community. It's based on the idea that a certain percentage of any community will add back to the community in the same way that people posted the best place to buy gasoline when gas was nearing $5 a gallon. Funding is required to hire programmers to build additional functionality, marketing people to make the idea known and promote it in community, family and women's magazines. The business is functional now and has little chance of failure and a huge chance at success. SLIRM www.slirm.com
I took a look at your website and I was wondering how your business will make money. I suppose you will add advertisements? Did you also think about other ways to generate income?
Regarding the funding you need, how much funding do you need for programming and marketing? What will be the terms for the funding? Do you expect loans, participation's or maybe not direct funds, but people that can help you in exchange for something?

Posted By: TedAll good questions. Our current income source is coupon clicking and advertising. As people start using the classifieds section people can pay for enhanced ads. In the future, as we collect large amounts of trend data from the price changes we are tracking, we will be able to provide licenses to that data. We can also provide consulting. I am sure that the site will grow into a community experience. You have to ask yourself the question about what makes a web site valuable. Facebook for example has no apparent income source because it's free to use. But, as the number 5 Web site according to Alexa, no one would argue that it is worth a great deal of money.
As far as funding goes, I'd like to find enough money to support at least one full time programmer and one marketing person. A couple hundred thousand a year would cover their expenses. The ongoing expenses of the company are small at present. Marketing is key to the success of the business. In lieu of being able to pay people, I'd certainly welcome people who want to partner with me. So, investment of either cash or sweat equity would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure when you looked at the web site, but last night we had a database meltdown and I am busy reconstructing the product database. So, SLIRM's shopping system is a bit haywire at present. It was my fault. That's why I need some programming assistance. I was programming at 11pm when I shouldn't have been because I started at 4am. Anyway, Please let me know how you might be interested.

Another option to generate income with your website maybe offering stores to automatically update their prices. If they supply the prices for their product the website will also be up to date and include all promotions. Of course they would only be willing to pay for this when your site becomes more popular. I saw this way of generating income in another price comparison website and it seems to work for them. Advertising is another obvious way to generate income of course. These days it's not possible the fund a site on only the possible future value.
I think it's a lot to spend several hundreds of thousands in a website per year, without knowing it will ever be successful. Personally I don't think I would ever use a website like yours, because it would cost me to much time to visit all different stores for my groceries. I'm sure there will be people interested in this, but the question is how many? I think you should think in ways to run your website cheaper. You may look into hiring your employees offshore. I have a friend in India with a IT company there, probably I can arrange a programmer for you for the discounted rate of 400-500 USD per month. The marketing person you may be able to hire from SupportSave Solutions, at about 900 USD per month. In this way you may be able to work with a lower capital.
The main question remains, what will possible investors get in return for investing money or time in your company?

In this case I think you are looking for donations. In that case "Charity Projects" sections would be more appropriate for this topic.
If I understand correctly you want to broadcast radio over the internet targeting Africa. That raises the question if the target audience has sufficient access to high speed Internet access, to make your project a success. Personally, I don't know much about radio. I do know about Internet programming though and I have access to good low cost programmers in Peru. If you can receive funding and equipment I maybe able to help you out with the programming.
Thnx for you comment. i really need donation but it is a little bit difficult. i do know more about radio but the finance is the big issue. I keep you contact and i will contact you as soon as possible. Thnx A. Bamba
